RAID Log

A RAID log is a governance record that tracks Risks, Assumptions, Issues, and Dependencies in one place so leaders can manage what could derail delivery.

RAID stands for Risks, Assumptions, Issues, and Dependencies. A RAID log collects all four in a single register so a program’s uncertainties are visible and owned, rather than scattered across inboxes and status decks.

  • Risks are things that might happen and would hurt if they did.
  • Assumptions are things taken to be true that, if wrong, change the plan.
  • Issues are problems that have already occurred and need action.
  • Dependencies are work that relies on, or is relied on by, something else.

Kept current, a RAID log is one of the simplest early warning tools in delivery.
